Week 9 Takeaways

Perhaps it was wishful thinking that the Packers’ deep-rooted issues on both sides of the football would be resolved in just one week of practice. Green Bay’s stagnant offense and inconsistencies on defense followed the team from Denver to Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte – which has emerged as a likely candidate for hosting at least one playoff game in January. This Sunday will not feature a second consecutive matchup between two undefeated teams, as NFL nation had hoped. The Week 9 matchup, however, will offer the Packers an opportunity to redeem themselves of their poorest performance with a healthy Aaron Rodgers since the 2010 Super Bowl season. The NFC North leaders can also reclaim the NFC’s top seed from Ron Rivera’s Panthers, who few believed would remain unbeaten this far into the season. Despite inconsistencies on defense, it’s the Packers offense that has fans and media scratching their heads. The inability for Green Bay’s receivers to get separation from defenders…

However, lending some attention to the Rams’ strengths – which were fundamental to their victory last week over the previously undefeated Cardinals – can remind one that this game could be closer than the point spread might suggest. Since taking over as head coach of the…

Week 4 Takeaways

It wasn’t the type of win that Mike McCarthy expected over his former team – but the Packers head coach should be generally pleased with the defensive-led 17-3 win over the Niners in Week 4. A healthy front seven and opportunistic secondary allowed the defense to build off of its past two performances and hold San Francisco to three total points. Despite the all-around great performance by the defense, it should be noted that Colin Kaepernick had his way on the ground during the first half, carrying the ball ten times for 57 yards in total and forcing a number of…
