Brett Favre Wants PHOF Ceremony at Lambeau

Gbrettreta Van Susteren, in an interview with Brett Favre on ESPN Wisconsin, has suggested that his Hall of Fame induction be moved from the Lambeau Field Atrium to Lambeau Field. The change would make capacity more than 80,000. A lot of people have openly wished to be at this event. What do you think Packernation, is this a good idea?

brettjerseymemeI can see some negative feedback that Brett is just trying to manipulate things again but really…could Lambeau Field be filled to capacity for such and event? Let’s find out! Fill out the poll below and let’s see if we can fill up Lambeau Field!

Every other jersey retirement at Green Bay has been held in Lambeau Field itself, not the atrium, so fans could attend. This one shouldn’t be any different. I am a fan and an owner and I would love the chance to drive up ( from Indiana ) to see it.

I could have sworn that the Green Bay Packers were all about the people, especially seeing that we are the owners. I love what the management has done for us but I dont believe it should be an uppity only event seeing that the actual owners are the furthest thing from uppity. We lived, breathed, and ate with Farve, We should retire with him too!

You shouldn’t use Aaron Rodgers name as your profile name. Anyone with a brain could tell YOU ARE NOT AARON RODGERS. You are nothing but a fraud.
By the way his name is Brett not Bart. Bart was Bart Starr #15.
If you can’t get the simplest of facts right you certainly should not be trying to pass yourself off as Aaron Rodgers. You phony!

When he was with the Packers he was good but got greedy turned his back on his team, went to the Vikings couldn’t cut it there why should they retire his shirt and recognize him as a Packer when he was a disgrace for leaving his team?

In the NFL most players transition from one team to another. Really think about your statement, he played his heart out here and pulled us from obscurity! Would you say the same thing for the great Reggie White leaving the Eagles? Peyton Manning playing for Denver? You are being crassly unfair. Brett didn’t leave willingly, he still wanted to play, the team decided they wante to replace him and move forward with Rodgers, Brett still wanted to play the game. OUR loss for not keeping him, not his for leaving.

It was my understanding that this change of venue suggestion did not begin with Brett Favre. It was the fans who didn’t think it was fair that only the corporate sponsers and the wealthy would be able to take part in this special occasion. So, they asked Mr. Favre to support the idea and he accepted. This didn’t start out coming from him at all.

The idea was Greta Van Susteren’s SUGGESTION. It even says so in the article. She might have suggested it because the Atrium was sold out almost immediately. And lots of people wanted to be there. It should be at the field because so many fans want to see that phase of his career.

YES, as a season ticket holder, I think it is only appropriate that those who have filled the stands to rejoice in his victories, and that cried each year when we thought we may have seen him play for the last time… Brett deserves to be surrounded by his FANS, not just a bunch of elite “suits”. He has always been “Our Brett” in my family, like another brother practically!!! Bring him home to another “Pack”ed home field!!! PLEASE!!

It began with this on February 2nd……

After announcing that the induction ceremony to the Packer Hall Of Fame this summer, retiring Brett Favre’s jersey, would be attended by only 1,600 people, all of whom were given ” first chance” to purchase, and were ” Sponsors and supporters”, it left no tickets for sale to the general public.

” Sponsors and supporters”…………SUPPORTERS?? Who is more of a supporter than the 80,000 fans buying tickets for these games, year after year? Who is it that not only buys tickets, but millions in merchandise, and have paid an extra 1/2 percent sales tax for that stadium for over a decade? THE GENERAL PUBLIC SEASON TICKET HOLDER, the STOCK HOLDERS, the FANS who lived, breathed, cheered, cried, laughed, wore the #4 jersey with pride and adopted Brett as a part of their family, their Packer family. Now…….. in the end of his era, the celebration of all he was, all he gave, to all of us……. it is decided that MONEY is the important factor in being in attendance to this historic event.

I say NO. I say no, and offer this as a more sensible, fair, and GREEN BAY option.

If there is someone reading this, sharing this, and knows how to get this to be a viral petition to Brett Favre and/or the Packer organization, I applaud you in advance for your assistance. First option is you……… PLEASE SHARE this with EVERY PACKER FAN YOU KNOW. There is POWER IN NUMBERS. Green Bay WI is the smallest city in the NFL, and yet, is the most admired, recognized franchise, as well as the face of NFL Championships. So, here is the open letter to Brett Favre…..

    “Dear Brett,

You have been invited to Green Bay WI by the Packer organization on July 18th, to finally and respectfully retire your jersey, and induct you into the Packer Hall Of Fame. Congratulations Brett, you deserve that. So does the entire Packer Nation, who loved and supported you through the years in Green Bay, and would love to attend this final farewell to us, your fans.

There is something that is concerning to us here in Green Bay, and informing you might inspire you to be our hero once again, in a win-win situation. You see Brett, the Packer organization has decided to retire your jersey and induct you into their hall of fame this summer, because it would make them look foolish if you were not in the hall of fame here, when you become inducted next year in Canton. THAT is their motivation to do this now. They have announced today that not only did they set the date, but have no tickets available for the general public, for the 1,600 tickets were sold to corporate sponsors in advance. Money…… the thought never occurred to have ALL of us a part of this celebration, but I have an idea for you to ponder………..

Ever year, the Packer organization holds their annual stock holder’s meeting IN Lambeau Field, which now holds 80,000 people, through renovations that happened because of you and the team’s success, and a county-wide additional stadium tax, which ALL of us have been paying for over a decade. It seems that there is a desire to invite ALL OF US to THIS event, so here is my thought…….. ” Retire Your Jersey IN THE STADIUM, and have it FILLED with YOUR FANS who want to be a part of this with you?” Don’t allow the Packers to take away from us this historic and glorious celebration because 1,600 rich sponsors and friends were offered this before the hard working ticket holders, who spend their own hard earned money to enjoy the privilege of attending games in person.

If you make this happen Brett, you can be our hero, and prove once again what is important to you, and to us. I propose you tell the Packers that there is a change of venue for your jersey retirement to Lambeau Field, and that there will be 80,000 proud Packer fans in attendance, not 1600 rich PEOPLE. To make this even greater, have tickets for sale for $40 each. With that, have a souvenir each ticket holder will receive at the gate when they enter, signifying the event. Then, the proceeds remaining after the cost of this item ( Perhaps a Brett Favre Bobble head Doll, with “Favre 4EVER/ Favre 4 Hope”) engraved on it. This brings the remaining money to you. If you can sell all 80,000 tickets @ $40 each, and the expenses for this average $15 per ticket for the bobble head, the ticket, etc…… you would be able to put $25 per ticket towards ” Favre 4 Hope”, your foundation. NOW, instead of being a puppet to 1600 corporate attendees, you will have become larger than life in front of the real supporters of you throughout your career, have earned this priviledge to attend, and will be supporting your foundation with over $2.5 million dollars!

Thanks for reading this Brett, and I certainly do hope you consider this. So do an amazing amount of fellow Packer fans.

    Sincerely,

Mitchell Hyde…….. and every Packer Fan ”

** It is now up to you, my fellow Packer fan, to help get this to everyone, including Brett himself. POWER IN NUMBERS……let’s see if we can make this viral…..**

So we did the things we did together, regarding the induction ceremony of Brett Favre, and I say thank you to all.
I just got off the phone, after a 1/2 hour conversation with a board member of the Packer Hall Of Fame. I thanked her for taking the time to listen to me, and she acknowledged reading the post we forwarded around ( but did not say it had been discussed, or had any influence on their changes this past Friday). She instead told me that Bob Harlen has been involved in this event beginning in November of 2013, when they realized that this day would come. She explained that they are obligated to doing this the way they have every year, with the banquet and other aspects being the same way. When I asked her about adding the fans in the stadium, not being the same way as other years, she agreed. She told me that they wanted the fans to be involved, and always have. I offered her the idea of the dinner and things with the 1600 people to be on Friday, with all of the reasoning behind it, as I have posted in the past few days. She seemed to think that the fans will be a part of this the way it is set up, that this was the best idea, and they are set in stone with it. I ended by asking her to please consider a conversation with the other board members about this dialog, and she said she would, but that they are pretty much on board with what they have. SO IN OTHER WORDS………. If you are not one of the 1600 ticket holders, and intend on going to this ceremony, it will be a $4 PPV of the things going on in the other room, the Atrium……… OR, you can watch it live, or DVR it to watch at a different time. Without the luster this should have had for the fans, personally I feel that this is a way for the HOF people to make themselves feel good for changing somewhat to sell tickets. I personally feel that we the people got to their ear, that they changed because of the overwhelming amount of exposure of the fans NOT being involved, and that this is a token attempt at resolving that issue, but they failed. I am not going to post anything more on this issue, a stubborn mind is a hard mind to change, and for that, the glory of this event for the fans has been deflated because it wasn’t part of the norm. I am really interested in your opinion on this, please comment………. thank you.
ps….. This is what I read to her, and what I also IM’d to Brett yesterday.
You had the opportunity to really show the fans that you truly did look out for them, but this is not a way to involve them, as you should. 80,000 fans buy tickets to every game, sit in weather from heat, to below zero windchills. 1600 sponsors having a dinner in the atrium, while 80,000 fans try to move around the stadium to get to the ” TV SEATS”? Come on HOF people, this is a solution……
Do the regularly scheduled dinner with the 1600 on FRIDAY night in the Atrium. No other fans to be involved, including feeling like a dog waiting for crumbs from the table. Parking won’t be an issue. Closing the atrium when the stadium is full of people wouldn’t become an issue, or potential hazard, safety wise. THEN, on Saturday, do this ONE OF A KIND ceremony, with the dignitaries coming, the entire Packer nation involved in more than a token couple minutes addressed to them. Tim McGraw is a big fan and friend of Brett’s…….. why not have him be a part of this, on a covered big stage set incase it does rain. FANS DO NOT CARE IF THEY GET WET! Add fireworks at the conclusion, and you have what is warranted here……. ” A historic event that will not only be memorable, but nostalgic in many ways for a lifetime memory of one of the greatest to ever wear green and gold”
This has been a fan-driven message since the first announcement on January 31st. Do what you said you wanted to do, TAKE CARE OF THE FANS!! They do not have to buy a $4 ticket to sit in the stadium to watch the jumbotron, they can do that at home. Make this real, make this about them, not about 1600 sponsors alone. TICKET HOLDERS PAID ALL OF THE SALARY YOU USED TO PAY BRETT THROUGH THE YEARS!
