Its hard to believe it but the NFL Playoffs are here! Green Bay will be resting this week but how much excitement is there around this Wildcard round. In particular, Packers fans will be watching the 6th seed Lions as they take on the Cowboys in Dallas. If the Lions win that game, the Packers as second seed would have a game at Lambeau against either the Arizona Cardinals or the Carolina Pathers and the Lions would travel to Seattle to take on the number 1 seed Seahawks. Packers training camp saw its regular share of injuries and UDFA surprises, all of which have given way to an interesting round of final cuts. The Packers will be without nose tackle B.J. Raji, offensive tackle Don Barclay and rookie receiver Jared Abbrederis for the entire season and will be missing tight end Brandon Bostick and center J.C. Tretter for multiple weeks. It's certainly possible that GM Ted Thompson makes an unexpected move or two before next Thursday's season opener in Seattle. Ted Thompson spoke to the press today in a conference regarding the final preseason game and the impending roster cuts.Thompson expressed a good deal of empathy for guys who "have done a good job but will not make it past this weekend". As far as the final cuts go, Thompson made it clear that while the assistant coaches have already made their opinions known, the final conversations will be between Ted and coach McCarthy. The Green Bay Packers have done some good things in the preseason. Aaron Rodgers looks fit and sharp and the no huddle offense looks to be ready to impose itself on defenses from the start of the year. The defensive pass-rush has already shown improvement even though they are playing things close to the vest right now and Julius Peppers looks to be a guy that can help us get to the next level in that regard. Well with the regular season just 11 days away, Packernation is starting to set its sites on the Seattle Seahawks. This week's preseason game will be one last chance for the young guys to show that they belong on this team but the cuts have already begun.
