The first two picks for the Packers this year were defensive backs. With the departure of Tramon Williams and Davon House in free agency, this fact should reassure Packers fans who knew all along that Ted Thompson would not draft for need. The cornerback position was strong in this year’s draft and the Packers seemed to agree with these first two picks.
Quinten Rollins, at 195 pounds and just a shade under six feet tall, may have some Packers fans wondering whether he can be competitive in the NFC North. But with an over three foot vertical jump and his basketball background, Rollins could develop into just the type of ball-hawking cornerback that the Packers look for to replace Williams.
Rollins will have time to develop if needed but also could make a splash if he continues to improve throughout training camp and the pre-season. He has been described as a natural athlete with good football knowledge for a kid that was away from the game for so long.
But what do you think Packernation? What grade do you give this pick? A lot of Packers fans out there were expecting an inside linebacker in the second round. Click below to be counted!
