Let’s Clarify Something

As a writer at Green Bay Packer Nation, it is my job to do the best job reporting news, communicating with readers, and giving fans a reason to return to GPN. It is a labor of love, and something I enjoy greatly. However, as is the case with mainstream media and other blogs, sometimes we don’t know how good something is until it is “out there.” That was the case today.
I retweeted a post from @cheesenewswire that stated the following:
RT @cheesenewswire: Bears Trade Jay Cutler and First Round Draft Pick to Get Kyle Orton Back http://948nc.th8.us
This retweet sent off a flurry of activity of speculation and questions asking why the Bears would make such a move. Some of the questions asked were directed to me, some to Mike Davidsen (fellow GPN writer) and some from fan to fan. One Twitter follower even asked for verification as ESPN had not reported it. It was this last reason which caused the inevitable second guessing, so here it comes…
It is a joke.
This post was published on The Cheese, a humor blog which is a secondary site on the main GPN site. As a writer for GPN, I make every effort to draw as many readers to all posts on GPN, part of which includes The Cheese. However, sometimes the writing is so good, it sounds almost too real. This was the case with the Cutler for Orton post listed above. I must give credit to Maximillian Penderscnuck, the author of this post, as it went quasi viral for a short period. Only a writer of top quality can produce a work which is so fake it sounds so real.
At the same time, I feel the need to apologize to my Twitter followers. As I stated above, I was merely trying to promote the work of a fellow writer at the site I write for, and it went a little over the top in terms of the attention it received. That was never my intention. What I would encourage everyone who reads this post, or asked a question about the “trade” is to check out more of The Cheese (http://thecheese.greenbaypackernation.com/) and make it your destination for real Packers news.
Or is it real?
Until then, for today’s post, if you truly were upset, then there’s only one thing to say:

Comments
Ok I'm ready. Fire away with comments.
although I would have to question the analytical skills of anyone taking that piece as anything but satire.
