It has been said that a wide receiver corps is only as good as their third receiver. If this is the case, the Packers should be in good shape. When the dust clears after training camp and the preseason, the Packers third receiver battle (one I am uber excited about) will have come to a conclusion and regardless of who wins, I expect the Packers third wide receiver to be a serious threat. With Ty Montgomery coming into his own right before the injury and a returning Davante Adams no longer treated as the golden boy, the battle will be fierce. That is not to mention Jeff Janis who made his biggest impression as last season came to a close. It is a “what have you done for me lately” league so time will tell, and don’t rule out the speed-burner Davis, who is likely a project but that leads to another aspect of this Packers team that bears mentioning.
The Packers have gotten serious about speed. For years, the Packers have proved that the wide receiver position is about chemistry with the quarterback, crisp routes and yards
While there is a long way to go before we get answers, and the Packers have an extra pre-season game to survive this year…those who are not faint of heart will have a real opinion about how Aaron Rodgers game will improve in 2016. But how high should we set the bar?
