Tomorrow night will be a big night for Packers fans! Preseason games are in full swing and coaches
There is going to be plenty to watch tomorrow night and a LOT of questions that are about to be answered. Will the combo of Clay Matthews and Julius Peppers show flashes of greatness and make Packers fans believe that we are going to be a big time pressure defense this year? What receiver is going to step up and take their place behind our top three returning starters? Who will be the starting tight end? Players are gonna answer those questions for us tomorrow night but there is one battle I am particularly interested in.
I think Ha Ha was a great pick up in the draft this year. I also love the athleticism of Hyde, who has made forcing Clinton-Dix into a starting role as a rookie unnecessary. But watch out for Sean Richardson. Coach McCarthy had higher praise for Richardson than for any other safety, saying he has had “one hell” of a camp. Of course, training camp is just that…training camp and play on the field is where the rubber meets the road. That’s why tomorrow night’s game is so important.
Undrafted out of Vanderbilt in 2012, Richardson stands 6’2″ and weights 216 pounds, a great frame for a strong safety. But Richardson can go up for the ball too and has proven it in camp. It will be interesting to see how he performs. The Packers need strong safety play, not just because it was a liability last season, but also because the NFC North is absolutely loaded at the quarterback and receiver positions.
I believe Richardson has won himself significant time on the field and I hope he takes advantage of it. But what do you think? Who do you think will stand out in tomorrow’s game? Let me know in the comments below.
