It's Been Fun! Wow, it has really been fun this week thinking about how close at hand the football season is and seeing Packernation's response to the question of what to call the Matthews/Peppers duo. Packernation's creativity showed and their passion for the men in Green and Gold. In the first part of this series, we tried to redefine the "balanced attack" on offense asĀ one that has the pieces in place to deal with whatever the opposing defense throws at them. Getting closer to a 50/50 split between the run and the pass would have more to do with what makes most sense according to down and distance and what the defense was showing. With the prospects of Desmond Bishop being out for several months, or even the entire 2012 season, the Green Bay Packers could be in a pinch at inside linebacker. Second-year man D.J. Smith is the logical choice to line up next to A.J. Hawk in the Green Bay 3-4 alignment, but there's another guy on the roster who I feel could make an impact in Bishop's place. Nothing Set in Stone on Defense

Dom Capers' defense finished the 2011 season 32nd in total defense and 32nd versus the pass. Perhaps it's not surprising that - despite the six defensive players added in the draft - the unit enters training camp with questions all over the place. The Packers have responded well from defensively challenging seasons in the past (2009) and must do so in 2012 to have a shot at returning to the big game. (more…)
