Marli is at it again with another mock draft, this time the Packers enter into some trades to stockpile picks on a team that definitely has some holes to fill (free agency notwithstanding). Here it is Packer Nation: More
Green Bay Packers
This year’s Super Bowl Prediction has me in a quandary. On the one hand, I very much want to see the McVay led Rams show up the Patriots because McVay’s offensive system just landed in Green Bay this off-season in the form of Matt LeFleur. On the other hand, I don’t feel it is wise to bet against the Patriots and their experience in the Super Bowl is going to be a significant advantage. So this year’s Super Bowl prediction may sound more like a “Path to Victory” for the Rams. Here are my thoughts: More
While the Packers are deep and defensive line, and many might even take an edge rusher if Ed Oliver slipped down the board to 12, there is one player that few have been talking about until now. Charles Omenihu was one of the risers at the Senior Bowl yesterday and here’s why: More
Marli is at it again with a way too early version of the 2019 draft for the Packers. A lot can change of course but some interesting picks here. And Marli’s enthusiasm for the Packers and the draft are not to be dismissed!
Here is your morning cuppa Packers news from www.greenbaypackernation.com
Geronimo May Need Surgery:
Packers’ wide receiver Geronimo Allison’s groin injury may require surgery. Coach McCarthy called it a “pretty big injury” and said he would be consulting with a surgeon. The void will likely be filled by Marquez Valdes-Scantling who had 101 yards on just three catches Sunday Night against the Patriots has continued to come on strong and gain the trust of Aaron Rodgers.
King Likely Out For Dolphins Game:
Kevin King will likely miss more playing time and not be available for the Dolphins game. King’s hamstring injury will require rest and according to coach McCarthy he will be “challenged to play this week”.
Josh Jones Makes an Appearance:
Josh Jones was called up due to the trade of Ha Ha Clinton-Dix and other than an inexplicable penalty on a kickoff, he showed up. Jones recorded 6 tackles in the 17-31 loss to the Patriots, four of which were solo.
Aaron Rodgers Wants to Feed Davante:
It is no secret that Davante Adams is a tough cover. While he was held to just 6 catches for 40 yards Sunday night, Adams still had one touchdown and would have likely had another but for an under-thrown ball. Aaron Rodgers wants to find more ways to get Adams involved as he is such a big part of the offense’s success. Look for his catch count to go up on Sunday.
Today the Packers’ general manager Brian Gutekunst once again made moves. In the eleventh hour of the trade deadline, Gutekunst off-loaded former first rounder (2014) Ha Ha Clinton Dix for an undisclosed forth rounder and embattled running back Ty Montgomery for a seventh. The move sets up depth issues at two very important positions moving forward. More
Ty Montgomery talked to the media yesterday in an attempt to explain the inexplicable. In case you haven’t seen it, you can watch his response via nfl.com. While I don’t think Ty is a bad person and I certainly decry any of the threats and accusations that were made against him, when your own team-mate calls you out, and Aaron Rodgers drops the F-bomb on the sidelines…you had better have a good reason for what you did. If you don’t, you had better fess up and accept the consequences. Ty did neither of these things. While it is very hard to determine someone’s motives for doing something and I hate speaking negatively of a Packers player, here are three reasons Ty Montgomery’s excuse for taking the ball out of the endzone with 2:05 left on the clock doesn’t hold water. In 2017, the Packers drafted 3 running backs in Aaron Jones, Jamaal Williams, and Devante Mays. That running back group (now with Mays out of the picture) along with converted wide receiver Ty Montgomery, is off to a good start in 2018. The fantasy league owners and all the national pundits want Aaron Jones to be a featured back but Packers coach Mike McCarthy has more in mind than a fantasy league win…he wants a Super Bowl. The rotation of Jones, Williams, and Monty keeps the group fresher down the line, especially for games in December at Lambeau. This will be a huge advantage for the team toward the end of the season and into the playoffs. But can the team mirror that situation with the three new wide receivers drafted in 2018? More
The Packers’ 2018 roster is set (well…until waiver claims and any final trades get done) and there were some things I loved and some I hated. Here is a “Love it or Leave it” roster cuts edition, I will start with “Leave it”: More
