In a game that had the feel of a post-season game though it only is week two, the Packers got the albatross off their back with a big win against the Seahawks to go to 2-0 and maintain first place in the division. The Packers host the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday night and the stakes have been raised by the loss of each of the other three teams in the division plus a Seahawks in-division loss against the Rams. Packers fans saw James Jones come on a strong in an otherwise somewhat lackluster Packers performance that did as much to highlight the Packers' defensive shortcomings as anything else. The fact of the matter, though, is that the Packers are 1-0 and won their first season opener since the 42-34 win over the Saints in 2011. If there was any question that James Jones would be a positive addition to the team, Jones made that clear today in a 31 to 23 defeat of the Chicago Bears, a game in which the last Chicago score came in what would be considered garbage time had not the Packers given up an onside kick in the NFC Championship game at the end of last season. Jones had four catches for 51 yards and racked up two touchdowns in the win. (more…)
