A Delightful Bonus

Well, the Packers big win against the Minnesota Vikings had GPN's own Jeff Hayes making plans to rotate his tires on Sunday. "Hey Jeff...hope ya watched some football!" Packers fans were treated to a delightful bonus on Sunday, watching the Bears blow a lead to hand their first away loss to the Carolina Panthers AND seeing the Lions find a way to lose (thanks, in large part to Matthew Stafford) to the Kyle-Orton-led Buffalo Bills. If the stars ever aligned like that again, we would have to name the constellation "G-Force Major". Here are some takeaways from this weekend's festivities. (more…)

Into the Second Quarter…

The Packers entered the second quarter of the 2014 season in style, putting up 42 points on the Vikings while only allowing 7, and those came in garbage time. It is easy to blow off a win such as that because of the absence of Teddy Bridgewater. But keep in mind that the Vikings put up 41 on the Atlanta Falcons the game before. The Vikings are a team with some weapons and their running game, in particular, was effective in the absence of Adrian Peterson. So the Packers have what Mike McCarthy has termed a "mini bye", skipping Sunday…

The Packers host the Minnesota Vikings tomorrow night in what could be a sloppy affair if the weather reports are correct. But one question that remains to be answered is, "Who will be the Vikings starting quarterback." Admittedly, this is a question that the Vikings have been asking for numberous years but in this case, they would clearly prefer to see rookie Teddy Bridgewater at the helm. Bridgewater, in his first NFL start, went 19 of 30 for 317 yards and ran five times for 27 yards and a touchdown.  (more…)

The Packers pulled away from the Bears in what looked early to be a big time shootout. With the defense capitalizing on opportunities and keeping the score low, the Packers ended up with a convincing win. But not all Packers fans were convinced. There were still major holes in Dom Capers' defense that the Bears capitalized on and with BJ Raji gone for the season and a smaller defensive line than is typical for a 3-4 D, the Packers look to be vulnerable to the run for the duration of the season. While nobody wants our defense to give up…

Eddie Lacy: One Shot Wonder?

  3 years ago     197 Views     6 Comments

Eddie Lacy is in the news for the first time because of his inability to perform in the first three weeks of the NFL season. Last week was arguably his worst performance as a Packers starter with a fumble, a tackle for loss that resulted in a safety, and a general "un-Lacy-like" performance. Lacy ran high, was indecisive and though he had a few good runs (38 yards on 8 carries) and covered way too much ground East/West for a running back whose strength is yards after contact. I'm not going to get into the reasons for Eddie's disappointing first…
