Ted Thompson has built a perennial contender and one-time (so far) champion by focusing on the draft, signing players who prove themselves, and once in awhile making a careful off-season acquisition. Most recently, Thompson acquired Julius Peppers after he had been released by the Bears because his contract got too bloated. Ted also brought in Charles Woodson and Ryan Pickett. So it is not fair to say that Ted Thompson does not sign free agents. But it is also true that Ted rarely if ever signs players during the free agent "frenzy". (more…)

Should the Pack Pursue Revis?

Word is just now coming out that the Patriots are not planning to pick up the option on Darelle Revis, which means that tomorrow at 4:00 pm, he could hit the open market. With Brandon Browner also reportedly being allowed to test the market, the cornerback free agent situation became very interesting. AJ Hawk… A CLASS Act

As many of you know by now...AJ Hawk, 5th pick overall...has been released by the Packers. This moves the Packers from a re-vamping year at inside linebacker to a re-building year. For all of his knocks (mostly due to the fact that he was picked number 5 overall) AJ was a consummate Packer, a phenomenal teammate, and an all around good guy. Packers fans will feel the sting of this loss for the entire off-season. But sometimes, you have to look at things from a different angle to gain perspective. I was heart broken like everyone else last night and wanted all the coaching staff to be fired, but putting it in perspective, it was a great season for the most part and I feel blessed to be a Packers fan.
