The Measure of a Draft…

Draft classes will always be measured and graded just days after the selections are made and before the players even take the field. This may not be fair but it is a reality. This is a “What have you done for me lately” league and it is becoming a “What will you do for me” league. This year’s draft class is exciting and there are several guys I am excited about seeing take the field in training camp and the pre-season.

But the offseason before the 2015 season is also the perfect time to take a look at some of the contributors from the 2014 draft class. Of course, the obvious choice here would be Ha Ha Clinton-Dix who was a difference-maker on an improved Packers defense. But I want to show some highlights of Davante Adams and Richard Rodgers. These guys broke into a deep receiver corps and a tight end group that already had veterans and made an impact. There is a LOT to be said for that.

With guys like Jared Abbrederis and Jeff Janis coming back, guys like Ty Montgomery and Kennard Backman will face fierce competition. I have already predicted that Ty Montgomery will be a starter and difference-maker on special teams in 2015. And I think he will give every young receiver on the roster a run for their money. This seems to be holding true if reports out of the rookie orientation are accurate. He’s raising eyebrows already.

But here…here are some highlights from Adams and Rodgers from the 2014 season. These guys did a great job and will be coming back to compete in 2015, locked and loaded and ready for action! Here is the best 4 minutes of your Friday so far:
