The NFL announced yesterday that the Packers will once again face the Patriots in the 2015
The Patriots choke up the cornerback and make it look like he may blitz, leaving the receivers
The play called sends Andrew Quarless straight through the middle of the Patriots’ overloaded defensive backfield and Nelson and Cobb criss-cross while the Patriot defenders keep the play in front of them. With the Patriots rush neutralized by the Packers offensive line and Nelson pushing the defenders deep to the far side of the field, Eddie Lacy is wide open coming out of the backfield.
Lacy proves that the preseason talk of his sure handedness was no rumor with another catch out of the backfield. The Patriots learn the hard way what a wrecking ball with good hands can do as Lacy turns his shoulders and sets his sights on the first down, forced out of bounds but never actually tackled on the play.
The 2014 Packers were, in my opinion, the best team in the league. But the game is played one opportunity at a time and the Packers did not quite do enough with their opportunities. Playing the Patriots in the preseason will be exciting (I know it’s just a preseason game) and Packernation’s first look at the 2015 Packers. Just imagine if, by that time, the Packers have added another running back or wide receiver in the draft. It could happen even though the Packers needs seem to lie entirely on the defensive side of the ball.
