First of all…what a shame to go through another season having lost a key lineman before it ever began. Don Barclay’s ACL injury is a blow to the depth of a Packers offensive line that could have
We all know the importance of protecting Aaron Rodgers and we all fear that the injury bug will hit
But Derek Sherrod was a first round draft pick (number 32 overall) and has a lot of potential. Much of his potential has been hampered by the leg injury he sustained in 2011. Now Sherrod is going to have to turn potential into actuality because as the likely second behind Bulaga, he is going to see a LOT of reps in the preseason.
I think the line will still be fine. I believe that Sherrod will be an excellent backup for Bulaga and I look forward to watching him play this Saturday and through the preseason. Either way, things are shaping up quickly and it all starts Saturday.
In part two of this post, I will go more in depth on the play of Sherrod. As I said above, I think he will do fine but until I take a closer look, I am gonna be a little on the fence about it. And frankly, I can’t wait until Saturday because that is when we will all get to see the guy’s present condition and ability.
So what do you think? Is this year’s O-line gonna get the job done? How bit a hit is the loss of Don Barclay? Let me know in the comments below.
