2015 Draft is over

draft logoWith the 2015 draft the Packers added 8 new players to their 64 man roster,

1st rd-Damarious Randall, Safety/Corner

2nd rd-Quinten Rollins, Corner/Safety

3rd-Ty Montgomery, Wide Receiver

4th rd-Jake Ryan, Inside Linebacker

5th rd-Brett Hundley, Quarterback

6th rd-Aaron Ripkowski, Fullback

6th rd, comp-Christian Ringo, Defensive Tackle

6th rd, comp-Kennard Backman, Tight End

General manager Ted Thompson addressed the defensive backfield with the first two picks ttconfirming what everyone knew was a need but when he passed on a Inside linebacker in the third round most were wondering what was going on, Paul Dawson was considered the best ILB leading up to the combine but with a poor showing his stock fell but when he was there in the third and Ted passed on him again for a wide receiver he made it clear he was not worried about the ILB position and they already have their starters on the roster.

Sam Barrington stepped up last season to prove he can be a starter but who is his partner in crime going to be? McCarthy stated he fully expects Carl Bradford to fill the role and for him to say that it makes me think he seen enough improvement last year for him to be their guy. Then there is Joe Thomas who was making a case last year during preseason to make the final 53 before sustaining a knee injury and being released but midway through the season he was able to come back and sign with the practice squad to finish out the season. The rest of the linebackers who may be that guy are Nate Palmer, Josh Francis and Andy Mulumba who could be the top player of all these mentioned, he was another player who before injury could have took Brad Jones job last year. Some are thinking Mike Neal may be moved inside so Clay Matthews can go back to his full time quarterback attack on the outside, but I think his role will be what it was in the latter part of last season.

Well this is a few thoughts about why Ted only took one ILB in the draft and not until the 4th round let us know what you think on our facebook homepage or the comment section below.

Go Pack Go!

Jeff

FIRE TED THOMPSON. He’s had lucky hits and then the rest are complete trash. We need a gm that will make franchise changing picks

Lucas, the franchise doesn’t need “franchise changing picks” unless you want the Pack to be a mediocre team. Don’t be such a dolt.

Lucas please forward your resume to the head office immediately. I too am a keen judge of talent and you clearly know your stuff. Oh wait, just re-read your comment. Please disregard.
