In the multitude of specific errors that the Packers made to loose that game, I do not think you can put blame onto Rodgers.

Does he share collective guilt on a timid game plan and offensive execution? In his role as a ‘coach ready’ QB, you can only but answer – Yes

Does he need “Brady Fire” to be a great player, No. It does fire up the troops, but ultimately cool heads usually win wars

Does Rodgers need more rings to cement his legacy in proportion to the level of his play?

As a player if he carries on at/near this level, he doesn’t need them. Dan Marino remains one of the greatest ever, regardless of the lack of bling

As a modern QB/Playcaller/Leader, he needs ’em. We expect these guys in the Rodgers-Brady-Manning elite to be ever more.

To this packer fan, its hard to have long term perspective at the moment. I am still dazed from the loss.

In Q3 I though we were going to bring it home this year

It was the defense that lost the game NOT RODGERS! He had them a 19-7 lead and the defense blew it..Why? Because Capers/McCarthy went prevent football so bottom line is they need new coaches that have balls to call a game like Carroll or Belichick until they get coaches like that the Packers will never win the big game!

I agree that the team needs to stay aggressive and avoid the switch to conservative play, especially when it comes playoffs time… but your statement about never winning the big game was already proven false four years ago (refer to Superbowl 45). Coaching staff was primarily the same.

Been saying that ever since the D blew it in the playoffs in 2011……15-1 and can’t win a playoff game that season because our D could not be relied upon any time the O struggled. Historically bad that year and no coach, Capers, was fired? Sometimes I question the packers front office and head coach. Until we have a top 5 or at least top 10 D again, we won’t stand a chance against teams who have great D. Think about it. The last 3 or 4 years have started and ended badly because of teams with great D. San Fran, Seattle, Giants all started us off with losses and finished us off with losses as well.

the play calling in 2d half went from playing to win to playing “not to loose” MISTAKE ! ALSO THE 2 FIELD GOALS IN THE 1st HALF,esp. on THE 1 YD LINE WAS ANOTHER MISTAKE, IF THE PACKERS CAN’T DO ANY BETTER IN THE “RED ZONE” WE WERE DOOMED TO LOOSE !WE’D BETTER MAKE SOME BIG CHANGES IN OUR O’LINE !

I would much rather listen to commentators who have played the game, rather than someone who thinks they have all the answers and never played. There voices have such a grinding sound, gives me a headache. I think Aaron’s legacy is already set, he is a great player and more than that a great, kind person. I have something to occupy the know-it-alls. Take a look at the players who have been in trouble the past years, as far back as they want to go, and look who the coaches, owner, etc. are and see how personalities similar. I think Green Bay staff takes in consideration all aspects of a player before signing.

Rodgers is great, played w/ injury like a pro, but the 2fld goals were a disaster. But wait til next yr, u always learn by mistakes. Hope the coaches also learn.

The only thing Rodgers did is possibly be TOO obedient to the play-caller. This is one of the worst reporting possible. First off, Tom Brady? Are you guys SERIOUS? Just over two weeks ago, we were all reminded of Billy and Tommy’s cheating habits and NOW they are the greatest of all time? C’mon. I’m always in awe at this viewpoint. Tom Brady steps back 2-3 paces, then up one and stares down his receiver. It’s the same every time! That’s his ‘legendary pocket presence”. Are these “experts” honestly this naive? He’s just NOT that great! They have been caught cheating at EVERY. SINGLE. CHAMPIONSHIP. and this fact seems to be completely overlooked by the media and the NFL. As far as Aaron “challenging Sherman” on ‘that play’ he thought it was a gimme toss. My best bet is that the ball wasn’t supposed to be thrown that direction by design and Aaron CHANGED it to test it out. Without telepathic abilities, he was unable to psychically tell the receiver, therefore it looked ugly. As we all know, Aaron was right. It SHOULD have been a junk ball. They WERE clearly offsides. It’s the kind of awareness Aaron has that Tommy lacks.

I understand many people will equate ‘greatness’ in a quarterback with rings. Winning championships. Lest we forget in the talks of ‘greatest ever’ the SIX championships won by Lombardi/Starr? But I digress…..CHAMPIONSHIPS are won by a team, not one man behind center. It’s the coaching, running, blocking, tackling AND yes, scoring. Aaron is on track to smash SO many records for accuracy, QB rating, etc and all in the absence of scandal. Shut up about TOM BRADY. He’s a hack and his coach is a disgrace to the game. It’s shameful that the NFL has put them on a pedestal and it may have cost them this life-long fan of football.

A little side-note….Aaron isn’t the type of guy that will be swayed into decisions on account of “his legacy”. Although, I thought that about Favre, too. haha

Tom Brady is immensely OVERRATED! Who cares how many rings you win in a game. If you cheat to get them, they aren’t really yours. Facts are facts. Packers will not pick up people with a nasty track record. I have never seen a team with players that actually care about each other and have such a great “family” relationship. Other teams say they do, but they don’t show it. The Packers aren’t out there for themselves. They always show they are a team. Sometimes teams make decisions that lead to mistakes. We are not perfect, but we strive to be! We learn from past mistakes and plan better for the future. There is no corruption of other players or violence towards them. We are a true team, a loyal team, an American team! Tom Brady and many like him around the NFL, I could care less about people like that. The lies, the cheats, the deceit. 4 rings, multiple mvps, I would like to know how he was the MVP of the big game when others gained some high almost record breaking yardage in a big game. The NFL is telling us they care about children with the play 60 program. But then cheaters always get away with cheating until someone finally stands up to them. Packers are standing up for FOOTBALL, not the drama behind the facade. Sure many players do charity work and even surpass their contracts so they can truly make a difference. It’s not about the money for them. There are many players on the Patriots that I enjoy. But Brady and his cheating coach will not go down as a great quarter back legend in my book. Rodgers surpasses Brady by far with passer ratings, interceptions, touchdowns, yardage as he progresses each year. He has already broken multiple Favre records. Who cares about the number of rings you have? They don’t mean a thing if you cheat to get there. We have some rings, we will get more, but we will never let that defeat us and our personalities. I am DAMN proud of my team even when we don’t win. The guys are fantastic! There morals inspire me to be my best and stay strong. Nothing will pierce us and make us end up like other greedy, scandalous players, coaches, admin, refs. etc. the list goes on and on. We will not break, We will not fall, We will not bend. We will fight for the true love of the game, play some good football without the dramatics. GO PACK GO!!!!! Green and Gold ’til I’m Dead & Cold!!!!

This guy on First take is high! Aaron had no control over the on side kick, he had no control over not going for it on 4th and down. I blame McCarthy for not being aggressive when you had the chance to put the Seahawks away. Aaron was hurt and did the best he could but the special teams and McCarthy blew that game. These guys on First take are just talking to fill the air waves, come on guys lets give credit where credit is due, the Seahawks took advantage of the crappy defense at the end of the game and they recovered the onside kick there was a huge swing in momentum in the 4th qt. Aaron is on his way to being the best lets see what happens next year hey look at the Seahawks loss in the super Bowl they choked at the end who’s fault it was Carroll’s Russell Wilson went along with his coach he could have called an audible. these guys should shut it!

We’ll see. With Lacy imerging and Jared Aberdaris returning Aaron will be lights out. Cause he is the best QB in nfl history next to Montana and he is still playing and reletivley young considering that he didint play for his first 5 years, and learned what not to do following Farve (Int king)

Parts of this video miss the bigger picture, and other parts are spot on.

Brady is not handcuffed by McCarthy’s conservative play calling. I think Rodgers would already have 3 rings if he were playing for Belichick. Yes, Rodgers had a bum calf, big deal. He doesn’t compare favorably to Brady, who has no mobility at all.

I’m a big fan of Rodgers, but reality is that he struggles to win big games. He struggled against top Ds this year in all of our losses, only beating Detroit in week 17. He was 1-4 against top 5 Ds. His 6-5 post season record is nothing to brag about.

His NFC Championship game stats were pedestrian at best; 19-34, 178 yards, 1 TD and 2 INTs. Our D kept us in this game, not Rodgers. 5 turnovers and still only 22 points in the game? You won’t win many NFL games today with 22 points. Should have been 31-0 at half time, but Rodgers couldn’t consistently get it done and failed to end drives with TDs. Brady demolished the same Seahawks’ D with 37-50, 328 yards, 4 TDs and 2 INTs. No comparison.

For the people that say Rodgers was limited because of his calf injury, Brady had 2 carries for -3 yards (both kneel downs). Brady is as immobile every game as Rodgers was at the end of season, and still finds a way to win. And Brady doesn’t have Lacy/Starks in the backfield, or anyone comparable. If anything, a mobile Rodgers should be putting up much better stats than Brady, but he doesn’t.

When Rodgers is on, there is no better QB in the game. But we’ve all seen the other side of Aaron, when he struggled entire games with accuracy. He’s a middle of the road QB when his accuracy is off.

I think championships alone are a terrible measuring stick for the best QB of all time. But this is the world we live in today, where SB rings have a lot of value for the fans and media. It has always been the “only” knock on Marino – no championships. Rodgers will be remembered by most NFL fans (and me) as another Marino, unless he obtains more SB rings and improves his post season stats.

He takes too many sacks, often taking us out of FG range. He often doesn’t get rid of the ball in key situations. He often fumbles when being sacked. I believe that if sacks were considering in QB ratings, he would improve that stat. So yes, I believe that at times he values his QBR more than playing smart football.

Lastly, it is a team game. But it all starts and ends with your QB in today’s passing league. Some of his weaknesses are still college level. Rodgers, like any other player in the NFL, can and should improve. I’m disappointed with his lack of improvement in some areas. QBR aside, he has a long ways to go to be considered in the best of all time discussion. Both Rodgers and Brady have benefited from playing in weak divisions for the bulk of their careers. Go Pack go!

Look at Peyton Manning. Couldnt get done time after time in the playoffs. Besides one time winning a super bowl. I can say if Rodgers career ends up like Mannings not getting it done in the playoffs he’ll be alright. No one is saying Peytons career is affecting his legacy by his playoff performances. And he still is in the talks as one of the greatest. When all said and done Rodgers will break a lot of QB records maybe even all and go down as one of the greatest to play the game hall of fame quaterback. Go! Pack! Go!

Will be interesting to see how it all pans out.

Seems more and more, experts and fans are giving priority to championships to determine the greatest QB of all time. Yet, they fail to add Starr to the conversation. Starr’s 104.8 QBR in playoff games is still the best in NFL history. Starr is either the only, or one of 2 QBs in NFL history to win 3 SBs in a row (having trouble finding the rosters from the ’29-31 Packers, who also won 3 in a row). Starr also won 2 in a row. Starr had to have the best record of 7 teams in his conference to make the Championship Game. Seems to me that his accomplishments will never be equaled. If I have to pick one GOAT, it would be Starr.

Marino has also disappeared from most of the conversations about greatest of all time. I think he’s definitely one of the greatest of all time, and I could list several more.

I hope you’re right that Rodgers will be remembered as one of the best, because he is up there somewhere. But recent trends don’t seem to favor it happening unless he wins a couple more championships.

At one point, I thought Aaron legacy was tarnished but after a week or two of calming down and getting over that debotchery in Seattle, my eyes open and said its not. He has just won his second MVP trophy. The qbs that are supposedly ‘over him’ are on their way out and Rodgers is the purest passer and athlete of quarterback in league. Greenbay will get one or two more SBs from A Rodg, Jordy, Matthews , Cobb, lacy , shields , Crosby and even Jared bush. I am very confident in this team. Brady isn’t better than A.Rodg but I respect Brady because he never quits and is fiery. I feel Aaron Rodgers doesn’t need to be all of that. His numbers and MVPs speak loud and he is a R-E-L-A-X type person which is great. He will be the best quarterback over when his career is over. He is a for sure HOF right now and has over 5-7 years of play. So just sit back and RELAX and let Rodgers be and watch him work! Go Pack Go!

There were a handful of things that happened in the last 5 minutes of the 4rth quarter that if the Packers converted any of them, Green Bay would of won. Yes, the play calling went into neutral after Burnett’s interception but does anyone remember the Quarless drop for a first down on that drive?? Hit him right in the hands but like most of the fans, coaching staff & players…he was probably making his Super Bowl plans & going through the motions thinking the game was over. I saw a breakdown in several players but none with Rodgers, he was helpless with the play calling & obviously he can’t throw & catch the ball. Anyone blaming Aaron for this loss either just doesn’t like him or doesn’t have a clue about the actual game.

Rodgers has to share in the blame for the loss and I’m sure he knows it. Converting 5 turnovers into only 19 points is a problem. Brady shredded the Seahawks D to the tune of 328 yards and 4 TD passes, with lesser receiving talent than we have. No reason in the world Rodgers couldn’t have done the same.

When you can point to a drop here or there, or a few bad plays on D or ST for a loss, it’s because your offense didn’t put the game away. This should have been over by half time, but Rodgers didn’t put TDs on the board.

The defense did choke badly and the three straight runs were terrible coaching by McCarthy. That terrbile I mean terrible effort to catch the onside kick instead of doing his job amd blocking so jordy nelson can catch it was the f***ing worst effort ive ever seen on a onside kick. And your a TE he should be released something my little niece could of caught that ball to seal the deal for the W. You call yourself a TE!!! Outn of everything he lost us the game PERIOD!!! END OF STORY!!!
