Rant Here Packernation…

Eddie Lacy vs AtlantaWell I am opening up a “safe” space for Packernation to rant about today’s game. This was a comedy of errors from start to finish…oh, and by the way…the defense did enough to get the job done.

What can you say about the dropped balls…missed opportunities…and failure to cash in on a hurt Eddie Lacy’s exceptional game. Wuh??? Well, you can say a LOT in the comments section below. We want to hear your rants and raves (not that there are too many raves) about this game!

Give us a holla in the comments section below…or head back to Facebook to comment…

What a shame ,,,,wasted performance by the D. And what is it with our receivers,,,,,they make hard catches look easy and drop the easiest passes I have ever seen. Jordy is makin to much money to be droppin those kind of balls. Kiss homefield advantage goodbye.

Lacy would have run for 200+ if McCarthy had fed him carries the whole game. But, instead he went into 2-minute comeback mode in the 3rd Quarter down by 6 and just kept throwing it. Sometimes you just jave a bad game. I’d rather have it now than in the playoffs.

I have always said whe you are playing against the refs you are going to lose and it was proven again today. All the missed pass interference and holding calls against Buffalo and the fabricated calls against the Packers shows how slanted to Buffalo the refs were and they should be ashamed of what they did and hope Vegas gave them big enough of a payoff so they can look themselves in the mirror and not feel ashamed. That’s right when you sell your soul you have no conscious.

While I agree the penalties didn’t seem even tonite, the Packers really have to own the loss. And I expect you will hear them say that. They had multiple chances. Unusually bad game by Rogers and his entire receiving corps. The only good performers on offense were Lacy and Cobb.

I agree, as bad as we were playing, we still would have won the game if the officiating wasn’t so bad. I hope the two blindside hits result in fines.

I totally agree with you Barry! I saw many calls they should have called against the Bills but didn’t. & What the heck was going on when the Bills player went to the GB sideline and was taunting and GB got the 15 yard penalty? Oh Well..It is what it is..GB should have played better on Offense, no matter what.

Packer tackled 5 yards out of bounds, Bulaga blindsided and Mathews also, all 3 of them should of been penalties. Nelson and Cobb being held all day and getting hit before the ball gets there. Fox is terrible with replays so you can see what really happens! But if Nelson would of caught the one pass for a TD it probably would of been different, plus special teams aren’t very special!

Omg!!! I thought I was going crazy cuz the packers were capped on because of the punk azz refs in the Buffalo game!!! That scares me because that may be a reason we could lose…. especially in a playoff game. Refs need to not be biased especially against the pack.

What the offense needs to do is a better QB protection and run block. If they can do those two things, then defenses will be confused whether Green Bay will run or pass the ball. The defense played well today, containing the Bills to force field goal kicks. Special teams played horrible today, especially with that 75-yard Punt Return TD.

Recapping my whole “rant” and adding more to it is that offense needs to improve a bit, despite that they are great ( more room for improvement) and reviewing basic tackling fundamentals.

    J. Nelson didn’t get a pass interference call early and I think that took him out of his game. The refs let em play and Green Bay wasn’t prepared for that kind of game.

I thought they came out flat and when McCarthy called three runs out of the first four plays, I knew it was going to be a long day. He takes the ball out of ARodg’s hands way too much. Lacy had a good day, but the slow start, as orchestrated by McCarthy, was something they could not recover from. Plus, they were flat at the start.

Still no excuse for jordys drop (he never does that )
The kick return was the wind.
Defense was in position but the wind blew the ball backwards and past the coverage
Too many drops to many mistakes
    Defense played great

I don’t care if the game was a set up or not. You don’t lose money games and that seems to be a Green Bay failing. When they beat New England by only 5 points at Lambeau; that was a sure sign that the season was over. Can they win out? Sure, anything’s possible but the probability is a pipe dream.

Let’s face it. Every player is a professional player. As a life time PACKERS Fan I hate seeing our team lose a game we had no excuse to lose, the refs miss calls every single game. But I’m not one of the conspiracy theroriest. We lost because we made mistakes. That’s why it’s a game of two professional teams. Bills suck but they won against a far superior quality team. And it will be such disappointing games that will make our winning the super bowl that more glorious. I am not gonna take cheap shots at the players I idolize and root for every year, every week, every game. That’s not team loyalty. That’s not a Packers Fan.

    Raves:
*Our D played a complete game. Jackson still managed to fall ahead on too many plays, but he was held to 70 yards. Can’t complain about that, much.
*Lacy played very well when given the chance. McCarthy started the game with Rodgers under center, handing off to Lacy with momentum, and it worked on most plays to get the big man hitting the holes with a head of steam.
*Their receivers dropped as many balls as ours did – but they’re not supposed to be nearly as good as ours.
*The O-line played well enough in both running and passing games to win.
*Our D started the game fired up, and it set the tone for game. We did not give up an offensive TD, and that’s huge.

    Rants:
*McCarthy went away from Rodgers under center and back to handing Lacy the ball flat footed from shotgun, which (as usual) did not work. I don’t think Rodgers was under center the entire 4th quarter, with the wind at our backs. I wish we’d lose shotgun formation from our run playbook.
*It “feels” like McCarthy comes into every game with so many plays and needs to call every one of them, instead of sticking with what works and avoiding similar plays to the ones that don’t. Contrast that to Lombardi, who called the Packers Sweep many times in every game, until a D proved they could stop it.
*Rodgers obviously played the worst game of his career. He had the most incompletions of any game by the 3rd quarter. Then he started forcing balls into coverage and zipping 10 yard passes which bounced off receivers’ hands. He couldn’t even get the ball cleanly to his check downs and TEs 10 yards away at critical times in the game. Every QB has an off game? Can’t remember the last time I saw a professional QB make terrible decisions and not able to throw 10 yards for an entire game.
*But he didn’t get much help from receivers. Jordy had more than 1 drop, and his failure to catch the best pass of Rodgers all day cost us the go ahead TD. Rodgers’ first INT was all on him, and we could feel that coming with the way he was forcing the ball into tight coverage(he could have been picked off 4 more times). The 2nd INT was on the ref, Rodgers, and Boykin. The defender hit Boykin before the ball arrived – no call, Rodgers shouldn’t have thrown into tight coverage, and still Boykin should make that catch or knock it down. Every single receiver dropped balls. No excuse for this at the pro level.
*Our TEs were not part of this game, other than using Quarless split wide (we have WRs for that with better speed and hands – Quarless is not Gronk or Graham). The short passing game was there all game long, and we failed to take advantage. Rodgers seemed to have tunnel vision down field, as usual.
*ST played good enough for a win. Occasional run backs are a fact of football. Overall they had sound coverage. But another blocked FG is inexcusable. Illegal formations on punts is inexcusable.

While I’m typically not a conspiracy theorist:
*This game “felt” like a setup. And it “felt” like our offense was in on it.
*Lacy runs for 20, holding called on Bahktiari as the ball was snapped, and no replay to show it.
*There were very few replays of penalties, which is not normal NFL game coverage.
*There was no camera coverage of the WRs at all for either team, in a passing league!?! Never seen poor camera coverage like this before, that I can remember. I have Game Pass, which allows me to rewind every play as many times as I want – which I did with the Boykin PI/drop/INT. But the camera work was so poor that I could not see half the penalties called on us. I could see most penalties called on the Bills very well, but many “possible” no calls were hard to pin down too.
*Not a single D holding or PI call by either team, that has to be a record for this year. Yet I spotted several plays where Bills defenders were holding onto our receivers well down the field.
*For the most part, the refs let players play. I’m all for that, as long as it’s consistent, and blatant PI and D holding are still called. But there was no consistency in this game (not a single holding penalty on Bills offense, and some killer holding calls on us) and some blatant holding, illegal contact, and PI penalties on the Bills secondary were ignored. I can’t say how well our secondary played because the cameras were not on them. The cameras were almost always only on Orton and Rodgers, and very few alternate camera views were shown after plays.

I’d like to see the NFL address a few things in the off-season:
*Refs should have to throw a flag every time a defender has his hands on receivers past the 5 yard mark, and then explain if the pass was deemed uncatchable, or whatever the reason for picking up the flag. This would keep refs honest, and players and fans understanding the game as it’s being called. I believe our players and fans were left wondering what had just happened and why, on many plays in this game.
*It has become apparent that any time a D-linemen falls down, holding will be called (only) on the GB offense, even when the O-lineman has hands inside the shoulder pads and is not pulling on the jersey. There’s no such thing as a pancake for GB O-line anymore. If the opposing D player trips, penalty on the GB offense. Offensive holding, how and when it applies, needs to be reviewed.
*This game may well have been legit from the refs and the camera work (both were just very bad). But the fact that it “felt” like a rigged game means that the NFL has plenty of room for improvement in both areas.

    Overall:
GB has yet to play a complete game in all 3 phases of the game this year. We should be peaking at this time of the season. Instead we have back to back games where one side of the ball or the other is playing poorly, for a half on defense, and and entire game on offense. I see passion, fire, and urgency on other teams’ offenses which does not exist on ours. I have no problem with the fumble rule. I have a big problem with Rodgers and the offense walking off the field after it like it didn’t matter. (I respected Brady’s tantrum on the sidelines after he took that sack, and later when we got the game clinching first down – where Rodgers looks in a hurry to get to the shower after losses.) We should show some emotion and get ourselves fired up during games. Rodgers sets the tone for the offense, and the “relax” mantra is wearing thin with me. I’d rather see him upset that he cost us another possible come back win with another fumble. But it’s apparently all peaches and cream in Mr. Rodgers’ neighborhood. Mr. Clutch, he is not. As of now, we must win out to make the playoffs and win our division. I don’t question our talent in any phase of the game, but I do question our motivation and determination. We must match other teams’ intensity, or this great season will be wasted.
    Go Pack go!

Well you lose some and you win some. play good-play bad. The real fact in this Buffalo game is that The Packers were whipped. Buffalo showed Green Bay that they are just another team with high egos. Tampa will watch this game on film and they will get the general idea on how to beat the Pack. I’m a Green Bay fan until I die and I have learned that no team is a sure bet. McCarthy “BEWARE’. Tampa, just like the Bills, want 2 more wins and they don’t give a shit who they get them from. I know that Aaron and all the receivers are very, very good! But it seems that we get away from running the ball, unless we have the lead. Lacy and Starks were running the ball very well, gaining some good yards. They got behind, then lost sight of what was getting them down the field. If they had stayed with the run a little more after seeing what the passing and receiving was doing, things might have been a little different. If they kept running the ball down their throats, it probably would have opened up some better passing lanes. The Bill’s defense was pretty good, but they didn’t really get to Aaron. But, they didn’t really make them fear the run except the first few possessions. I LOVE the Packers, I just feel, we have to watch what is getting us down the field and then adjust the plays that way. GO PACKERS!!!

Yep, the refs sucked. We blew it, too. I can almost deal with that, but the straw that broke the camel’s back for me were the announcers. Mica Hyde was re-named not once, but twice, and who the hell is Baktari, anyhow? At least they were consistent in rooting for the Bills and ignoring my guys, oh, and in calling Bulaga “Beluga” throughout the game. Contrary to popular belief, the Green Bay Packers do not employ a Canadian whale. This game was a cluster you-know-what, but this added insult to injury, especially coming on the heels of that brilliant “we will now switch our broadcast to a more competitive game” thing. I’ll forgive our guys for having a bad day, but I will not forgive repeatedly poor decisions on behalf of the refs, or the now perennially bad announcing.

I think the pack will be lucky to win another game at this point. This is not the same team as three weeks ago. I know a win is a win, but we barely beat Atlanta, got embarrassed by Buffalo, and this is not the sign of a playoff Or superbowl team. Good luck Pack, I hope you wake up in time for Tampa.
