R&R – Packers Versus Vikings

Packers vs Vikings 2015The Pack breaks a 3 game losing streak last night with their win over the Vikings, as I stated in my post “A Little Reminder”, our beloved team would win this one big, I even said mark my words!

Raves:

The defense came out firing on all eleven cylinders and the key was stopping one of the best running backs in the game – Adrian Peterson, holding him to 45 yards rushing made the Vikings try to beat them with Bridgewater’s arm which let Capers tee off with some well-timed blitzes. They kept pressure on Teddy the whole game, sacking him six times and hitting him ten more.
One sack by Peppers landed on Teddy, driving his left shoulder into the ground – a hard hit that knocked him out of the game but after a trip to the locker room he was able to continue playing.

People get down on Capers when the team loses but in reality the defense has been the reason this team is winning games this year, they played lights out ball yesterday and if they can keep it up the sky’s the limit.

Eddie Lacy, our hulk-mode, returned to the field looking like his old self. Eddie took over on the second series and never relinquished his #1 role for the rest of the game. It was back to the one-two punch with Lacy leading the way. He had his first 100 yard game with 27 of those coming on his best run of the game. The O-line played better with the exception of penalties from Bakhtiari, and Tretter stepped in for Linsley when he injured his ankle and looked very good.

Jeff Janis, with Hyde going out with a hip injury Janis got his chance finally to show off his speed in the kick return and he made the most of it on his first run back with a 70 yarder! And he wasn’t done there, he also pulled a big PI penalty on a 50 yard bomb which put the offense in position to score again.

Rants:

Even though the offense looked better this game they’re still having issues getting on the same page having to use two time outs early but luckily they didn’t need them at the end of the half. They are also having trouble finding the end zone, Crosby’s perfect night (five FG’s) kept them in the game but if they want to start dominating teams then TD’s are a must.

Cobb, not sure what happened to the sure handed receiver this game or the last few for that matter, he’s been dropping way to many passes. Targeted nine times this game with only two catches is uncharacteristic. If he can get it together this team will start scoring more TD’s.

Okay, let me end this by saying this was a huge win not only for the players but also for Packernation as a whole to get their confidence back. They have the Bears at home on a short week and hopefully can carry the energy into that game to come away with another big win. They just can’t sleep on “DaBears” because they are playing decent ball right now almost beating the Broncos this week!

I’m happy to admit that I was wrong about this game and you were right. Hope they continue to build upon this for the rest of the year. Go Pack go! :)

David you are usually spot on and this game was not far off from your assessment as well it was the defense which stepped up and won this one bud. The offense still has work to do while they looked better this game and it will give them some confidence back hopefully they’re still not fully in sync.
