The red zone was an issue at times last season. The first preseason game again showed struggles in red zone. Rodgers and first stringers struggled. Hopefully they get this figured out or it could be an issue as season goes on. Need td not fg so as to not let games be close. Last year’s Seattle game is perfect example. If they scored atleast 1 td in first few series they would have won that game. Pack have a great team. They will be heard this year.

You’re right Mark. It really bothers me that finishing drives is apparently still a struggle. My gut tells me that the ones will get that figured out before the season starts but I don’t know.

Your point is certainly a good one.

I agree there is concern for red zone efficiency, however lets not get too judgmental in the preseason. As we all know, the plays used are typically vanilla and things will be run differently during the regular season. It would certainly be more comforting to see some TD’s scored during (and maybe we will) this preseason, but it won’t be alarming unless it carries over. I know this is an area of concern and is being worked on during camp. I have a feeling they will be better prepared coming out of the gate, than we were last season. Time will tell….

If a team cannot score then a team cannot win. We must do better in the red zone if we plan on going to SB 50 and winning.

Red zone has been a problem ever since Finley was lost. This needs to be fixed.

You make a good point there Max. The TEs were Favre’s go to guys in the red zone. We don’t use them as much nowadays. I’d like to see then get used more.

I have a different take on defense of backs. You cannot just have one shutdown guy you need two of them. If two shutdowns are good then why not three? The Packers will score there points whether it be in the red zone or from 50 yards out. However drastic of a concern red zonePlay may be I think the ability to completely take away the other teams passing game would be a greater asset to the team as a whole.

Interesting thought Chad. Almost a “the best offense is a good defense” approach.

Tackling is the biggest concern in my book, we missed way too many last year! Too much trying to “blow up” the ball carrier and not enough proper technique.

sam Barrington looks solid, but I want to see a second inside linebacker emerge. Clay, last year, was amazing – moving to a new position in what was almost an emergency. But if the packers want the freedom to move him around the defense someone else must show that they can stop the run and cover backs and tight ends. The teams in the NFC North have some good ballcarriers, and the pack may be three to five games into the season before the defensive line is settled.

If a team cannot score, they cannot win!! Not my words, but definitely true!! We have to do better at this!!! Getting down to first and goal and not moving the ball in 4 downs?? Gotta work at this.

Keep MacArthy away from any play calling, he’s a disaster with his play cards. Give Rodgers more leeway with play calling.
