AM Quickslant: Now This I Gotta See…

all pro teamEveryone in Packernation has enjoyed seeing Julius Peppers, Clay Matthews, Randall Cobb and Jordy Nelson highlights during the NFL’s series on the Top 100 Players of 2014 as selected by their peers. For Packernation, there could be no doubt who number one should be and why. Aaron Rodgers is a better quarterback with gimpy calf than two of most other team’s quarterbacks. And when Tom Brady was named number three, it only left two guys names on the board.

So when NFL Network put Rodgers at number two and chose JJ Watt as number one, I had to do a double take. Watt’s team didn’t even make the playoffs! Personally, I think the NFL was trying to balance out the fact that Rodgers won the MVP.

I guess it depends on how you look at it. The Packers have shown that they can win games without Aaron Rodgers…though the percentage dropped dramatically. Without JJ Watt, the Texans couldn’t beat the Sun Prairie Middle School team.

But here’s how I see it…the best player, at the most complex position trumps a great player who played “both sides of the ball”. So JJ Watt caught a couple of passes…every player in the league has been catching passes since grade school and only later stopped if their skills led them to a different position. Maybe JJ gets extra points for catching the ball because the Texans’ quarterback position is such a joke.

But what say you Packernation. Tell us (and the world) who is number one! Aaron Rodgers or JJ Watt. And let us know why in the comments below or back on the Facebook Fanpage.

Go Pack!
