Packers Tame Panthers 38-17

Well the Packers won a thriller in Miami last week but then followed it up with a dominant Aaron Rodgers Statsperformance against the Panthers this afternoon.

The Panthers, whose defense was a league-leader last season, has not been great up front, exposing their weakness in the backfield in 2014. The Packers and in particular Aaron Rodgers, took advantage of that today. Rodgers and the Pack racked up 172 first quarter yards to the Panthers 5. Aaron took apart the Panthers defense with a passer rating of over 150 for the third time in his career. This game was over before the half and though they were ineffective, it was good to see a lot of second stringers get on the field.

Funny thing…the NFL “experts” are finally recognizing that Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb are the best receiving tandem in the league. I thought that Cutler and his crew, or Matt Stafford et al were the best…Packernation knew this one all along. Jordy and Randall continued to shine against the Panthers, Jordy now with over 800 receiving yards and Cobb with 8 TD’s.

clayThe Packers defense gave Cam Newton fits and got Luke Kuechly ejected from the game (he was frustrated to the point of ejection). The one time Packers fans saw Clay Matthews and Julius Peppers “meet in the middle” on Cam Newton, it was called back…as was the Clay Matthews pick six earlier, but regardless, the Packers defense was dominant without Datone Jones.

The 5-2 Packers now travel to the New Orleans before a much needed bye, where they will meet a Saints team that shows some weakness though it gave up a strong lead against the Lions. If the Packers can get a win there, they will go into the bye relatively healthy, with Boykin back and a bye week ahead to lead them into the second half of the season. The Lions still hold serve but have to come to Lambeau to take the division if things remain as they are.

All in all…this was a great win and a confidence boost for the Packers, who took on a team that scored 37 points against the Bengals a week ago. Things are looking up for Packernation.

GO PACK!!!

I have been a Packer fan forever & yesterdays game at the beginning of 3rd quarter FOX 23 in Tulsa,Oklahoma changed the game to Rams & Seattle! That’s BS!It shouldn’t matter if the game was a blow out or not! Needless to say we didn’t get to watch all the game! What I did get to watch was fantastic! Go Pack Go!!

That’s frustrating. I think I would have lost it if they dropped the game on me.

Couldn’t agree more Brady. This was a dominant performance by the Pack as a team. Clean up the penalties and keep improving, and we’ll be tough to beat.

But we better figure out how to cover a TE for the Saints. They have a couple of decent TEs. And Brees has to be kicking himself for that late INT, which cost them the game. :)
