Well the Patriots are at it again…we all knew it but the verdict was handed down by the league yesterday, to the tune of a million dollar fine to the Patriots and the loss of next year’s first and the following year’s forth round draft choices. Plus the suspension of Tom Brady is a significant hit on the Patriots’ bid to return to the Super Bowl.
But is it enough. The Patriots are repeat offenders, they have now been handed a relatively severe sentence for the 2015 season. But what about the Super Bowl win that came through other teams that now seem almost more deserving?
I don’t think the league can hand down this sentence without casting a deep shadow of doubt on the Patriots’ Super Bowl win last season. I know that the deflation of balls may or may not have a big affect on the game. But if it didn’t have give the Patriots an advantage…why did they risk it?
This team is becoming a problem. When you have repeat Super Bowl champions who are also repeat offenders in out-and-out cheating allegations…you have a problem.
That is my opinion, but what do you think? Is the simple punishment for deflating balls in one game enough, or is the Patriots’ Super Bowl win tainted by the results of this investigation? Let the world know what you think in the poll below:
They show a disregard for rules, like they are above it. So I don’t think it is enough.
The football is the center piece of football and to tamper with it and break the rules is more than just a simple thing! If Brady did do this then he should be banned from ever being inducted to the HOF..If you have to cheat to be the best then you are not worthy of the honor.
How long has this been going on, tooooloong! They have been caught w/the evidence, no more cheating!!!
This team needs to be removed from the NFL. Period. How many more times do they have to be caught cheating and then allowed to win a Super Bowl? Really? Isn’t the saying “Cheaters never prosper” ever going to apply here? Not to mention, these offenses are only the ones we KNOW about I am sure they have done much more that we don’t know about. Hit the bricks cheaters.
If a team cheats how can they be handed a Super Bowl Championship? It taints the whole NFL, if you ask me. It sets a precedence, sends a message to players, and everyone, that it is alright to cheat. It’s not acceptable, and never should be, period!
Tom brady,is there golden boy so the NFL does not care if he cheats they already knew about his past offenses but in this case it only shows a lack of leadership from the top on down in the NFL.they should inforce a rule the strike rule like in baseball three strikes and you are out but in this case for good .

In light of other teams getting away with warnings after tampering with footballs (Vikings and Panthers using heaters in 2013, Chargers using adhesive on balls with towels in 2012 and failing to turn the towels over to the NFL, etc.), I think the punishment is fair. It was harsher for the Pats because of their history with Spygate.
But I would like to see them on probation for extended time, with the next punishment resulting in something similar to being disbanded or forfeiting games for an entire season. The damage to the Pats’ image is now set in stone. People will always remember this SB win with an asterisk.
The bigger concern for me is the appeals process – specifically, the arbitrator turning the process into a joke. Recently, every severe punishment by the NFL has been turned into a slap on the hand by these arbitrators. I expect Brady’s suspension to be either thrown out completely, or seriously reduced. My opinion is that these arbitrators are seriously influencing the integrity of the game more than any teams or players.
