It’s All Downhill From Here!

Packer FireworksWith the induction of Brett Favre into the Packer Hall of Fame in the rear view mirror, it is all downhill to football Packernation. In less than two weeks, training camp will be here and with it…real football. The stakes couldn’t be higher as everyone in Packernation knows what this team is capable of. When the first airhorn of training camp starts, the countdown to the 2015 season begins to tick away.

The Packers have a lot of answers on offense but there are still some questions on defense. The inside linebacker position seems to be tentatively secure, but only to the extent that Clay Matthews is moved from his most natural position outside to man the ILB position. Personally, I would prefer to see Clay at the inside position more because it gives our defense an advantage (on a play-by-play basis) than because we have no-one else that really can take the reigns at that position.

One free agent that has yet to find a home is Brandon Spikes. Spikes doesn’t have much to offer other than to be a run-stuffer and his character may be in question after his hit and run episode awhile back. But having blown his second chance…does that mean he is hopeless or would he be motivated by the knowledge that it is his last chance?

Keeping in mind that they don’t have to take on a lot of risk with this guy if they bring him into camp, should the Packers consider bringing in Spikes?
